QUEST: 1,000 Woodcuts

March 2006 Update -  231 completed (yes, still...)

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Hello dear friends!

I'm on my way to the Tempe Art Festival, the biggest one of them all in these parts. I confess I haven't printed a thing this past month! Instead I made use of my time to spiff up my website, which was in need of a major overhaul. To avoid going stir crazy, I cleaned and reorganized the studio, also crying for help.

When I first started the website back in 1998 I had 5 pages made with Netscape Composer, a program that doesn't exist anymore. I grew up into the world of HTML and then finally acquired Dreamweaver, which allows me to do quick updates. But as the website grew and grew, the organization became a bit jumbled and I wasn't happy with the difficulty some of my viewers were having trying to find works and other things. Long story short, I now have almost 1200 pages and updating takes a while!

Well, I spent the last 3 weeks pretty much sitting on my hiney and doing a virtual web spring cleaning. But I also did finally get my latest prints online.

As always, you can peruse the latest works here:

Housekeeping Notes :

Not much to say on this mini-update except about the website and the studio. Oh, one sort of bad thing about this, the reorganization included many instances of renaming files so if you had direct links to some of the pages...well, sorry about that! Here is a list of new and improved web updates:

  • The Diary will now be kept a bit more consistently since I am using it as a journal/diary/record of activities.
  • You can now take a Virtual Tour of my studio and see where I work, or nap...
  • New look and sections in the Studio Notes, the most recent one is a Glossary of printmaking terms.
  • All the Galleries have a new look! I "framed" all my thumbnails and reorganized some galleries.
  • To make navigation a snap, I now have new javascript menus on every page, but you can also get to everything from either the index page or the site map as usual and search through my site from the index page.
  • A new Project is born! I wasn't exactly bored, but it was high time to get another mega-collaboration going.
  • I now publish an RSS/ATOM update that goes out every once in a while; if you are into such things, add http://1000woodcuts.com/rss/feed.rss (or feed.atom) to your favorite reader.

Enjoy the website and drop by a festival some time!
