Daryl sanding the block lightly to smooth the sealer brush marks, or else he's cleaning the block. Or maybe he's just got nothing better to do than stand there and "feel" the block, who knows? Behind him is the fiberboard tympan.
Also, we propped up the block on saw-horses to facilitate the inking process (read: save our backs!).
