Image: I am fascinated by the rugged trees of the desert landscapes around National Parks, Zion being a favorite of mine. While it is amazing enough that the hardy pines survive in altitude, heat and freezes, even more is the way some of them seem to choose cliffs and ledges to sprout and grow. These cliff hangers just seem to defy all odds of survival.
