Block: Resingrave (a synthetic resin block manufactured for engraving)
Ink: Tinted Red/Black
Paper: Daniel Smith Printmaking
Process: Engraving
Image: The reference photos for this composition were taken in broad daylight near the mouth of Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. As I started engraving, the light appeared in tiny lines under my graver, little by little, as in a desert morning, trees and canyons took shape in the scant light. I decided to leave the scene as an early morning, rather than let more light in. Ah, the advantages of owning an artistic license...

Process: Woodcuts and wood engravings are made by drawing an image on a block of wood, usually cherry in my case, then carving out the negative spaces. After carving, what is left is a big "stamp" of the desired image. I roll ink with a roller over the woodcut, place a piece of handmade paper on the inked block, apply pressure and transfer the image on the paper.

All my woodcuts are made in limited editions, signed and numbered in pencil. Signed Numbered Wood engraving Limited edtion Landscape Traditional 6 to 12 in
