Matted, ready to frame in a 12x16 standard size frame.
Single mat, artwork mounted with linen tape or archival adhesive, as shown.
Beautiful Southwest imagery of the willow flower in subtle pastel watercolors, original woodblock.
Print Title: As a drunken bee
Paper Dimension: 13 x 6.5 inches
Image Dimension: 11 x 5 inches
Block: 8 cherrywood
Pigment or Ink: Akua-Kolor
Paper: Owara
Edition: 100
Comments: Process: This year I started working in the traditional woodblock method. The process requires a separate block for each color, damp paper, perfect registration, and the pigment is brushed instead of rolled. Pigments are a mix of pure pigment and water with rice paste to "make them stick". The woodblock process in the Japanese tradition is exacting, demanding and tedious, yet somehow extremely satisfying. I'm sure I will get better with time.
Image: The Mojave Willow needs bees to pollinate, consequently the willow bloom has an attractive \"runway\" in the form of yellow stripes leading straight into the pollen rich flower center. I watch the bees head straight into the feast and wallow in the powdery yellow pollen until they are completely covered. Some seem to just sit and stay awhile, as if they were too drunk to fly.
All my woodcuts are made in limited editions, signed and numbered in pencil by the artist.
Sold in pristine/never framed condition (sold unmatted/unframed).
Chose matted or framed options to receive print ready to frame and/or ready to hang. Signed Numbered Matted Woodcut Limited edition Nature Surrealism 12 to 36 in
