Image: From the "road" series. I think we take bridges for granted; here we are crossing a wild and muddy river known as the "Dirty Devil" with as much ease as we drive on a parking lot. Take the bridge away and we would be left, like the settlers who named this branch of the Colorado, scratching our heads at the edge of a forbidding cliff, wondering how we will ever get the mules across. Two worlds, the banks of a river, completely disconnected but for the feat of engineering we simply call: a bridge.

Process: Woodcuts and wood engravings are made by drawing an image on a block of wood, usually cherry in my case, then carving out the negative spaces. After carving, what is left is a big "stamp" of the desired image. I roll ink with a roller over the woodcut, place a piece of handmade paper on the inked block, apply pressure and transfer the image on the paper.

All my woodcuts are made in limited editions, signed and numbered in pencil. Signed Numbered Wood engraving Limited edtion Landscape Traditional 6 to 12 in
