Woodcut Print Original Woodblock Earthtone Woodcut Surreal Figures Carved Men African Dance
12" x 17"
Ink: Oil based black and buff
Process: Reduction print, in which a single block is printed with the lightest color, then "reduced" to print the additional colors, thus destroying each preceding stage in the process.
Image: I like the pose books where the same figure is shown from various angles. Here I was playing around with sketching all the figures in one page in the same composition, giving the illusion of movement.
Process: Woodcuts are made by drawing an image on a block of wood, usually cherry in my case, then carving out the negative spaces. After carving, what is left is a big "stamp" of the desired image. I roll ink with a roller over the woodcut, place a piece of handmade paper on the inked block, apply pressure and transfer the image on the paper.
All my woodcuts are made in limited editions, signed and numbered in pencil. See my biography page for details about the artist. Signed Numbered Woodcut Limited edition Figures Surrealism 12 to 36 in
